Result From My First Boston Marathon - 3:02:21

The motto for this year's Boston Marathon (as written on the official posters all around town) is "Every runner has a story." As you all know, my I finished my first Boston Marathon one second behind my marathon PR time of 3:02:20 in last year's NYCM. (Thanks to all of you for tracking me and virtually cheering me on. You all are totally awesome!) What you don't know is how I almost walked off the course, almost DNF'd, and had to fight like hell just to finish.

What is to follow then, after I recover feeling in my legs again, is my story because one thing I learned at this year's Boston is that behind every race time, no matter how slow or how fast, is a great story. Stay tuned.

Oh man. I was teaching English today, and my phone went off at your splits. I was very excited for you, and knowing how much you wanted a sub 3 hour, I knew you were bummin' too.

I'm late to your Boston party, but yeah...can't wait to hear the story. It's still an amazing time.

Great job.

Lam, congrats! A 3:02:21 on the Boston course is like at 2:45 on any other course, in my book. I had the same feeling of wanting to stop, take the train, and I have never felt so much pain in my entire life. Looking forward to the race report! Ana-Maria

Lam, great job. What an amazing time on such a difficult course, wear your awesome Boston Marathon jacket around everywhere you go for the next 6-8 weeks.

Nice work on the finish, Lam. That time gets you another BQ, so you can head back next year and wrap up any unfinished business with the course. :-)

Great job! I was tracking your race yesterday and was so happy for your terrific time. It sounds like it was tougher than the numbers suggest. Can't wait to read the whole story.

Congratulations!

nice work. boston is a tough one. it's almost like the course is laid out to screw w runners. when i ran it, my finishing goals went from sub 3 to sub 3:15 to don't get put in the wheelchair at the end. narrowly made the last one. congrats on toughing it out. i suspect you'll not only do a sub-3 soon but even faster.

Wow! Can't wait for the story. I was following you virtually yesterday which is so tough because all you see is the numbers that doesn't tell the story at all! I was so sad to see you were only 2.5 minutes over your goal but now to hear you must have had to fight just to finish and still had such a great time, that's just amazing! Great job!

I can't wait to hear your story! You did amazing, CONGRATS on being a Boston Marathoner :) I was tracking and routing for you all morning!!! I had to get on your blog too to look up your NYC PR and saw you were one second off... ahh. Be very proud of yourself, you pushed through what sounds like an incredible tough race and were only a second off a PR, your sub 3 is coming very soon. Recover well and hold your head high - you are amazing!!!

Look ahead. Not behind.
You have to know the course to be able to run a sub 3 hour. You were strong training, although knowing the course plays a whole lot into it. You will get it next year...want to run together? Game?
For me, every marathon has a story, you are right on that one. Some are enjoyable, some are for memory, some are for time...

enjoy each race...never take it too seriously and live it up like it's your last.

Time is nothing, running is everything...

Think...at least you ran it and finished it...that takes more determination than anything else...
